A ferry ride between two continents…
After spending a night with friends, i woke up to a beautiful sunny Kadıköy Sunday. Kadıköy is the most centeral town on Anatolian side of Istanbul. There are alternative ways to get back home, but wouldn’t you prefer to take the ferry if you were me? I bet you would… So i walked down to the pier and got onboard M/S Beşiktaş 1 . She was built in 1986, the year i was born, by Haliç Shipyard in Istanbul. She has 17 sisters, the 10 earlier built ones have slight differences. They sail on the bussy bosphorus straight everyday, tie the two sides of Istanbul. The ferries are a break in Istanbul’s busy life. Whenever i have time, i try to take a ferry to anywhere. I used to sail onboard M/S Paşabahçe to Prince’s Islands and come back again when she was still in service. She was my favourite ferry which i will write more details about. Here i post some pictures of my small trip which is a daily one for many people in Istanbul.
I’ll try to post more about these ferries and other vessels of Istanbul as frequent as i can.
