The passenger motorboat ŞH SÜTLÜCE coming in to dock Karaköy pier head on. She is coming slowly to allow the other boat leave the pier easily. These 3 sister ships were built specifically for the Haliç (Golden Horn) route. They have to pass under the bridges over the Haliç bay, so their hight was limited, as well as their draught for shallow waters deep in Haliç. The boats are designed to get passengers through the bow, so they have rubber tenders above the waterline like tugboats.
Behind Sütlüce, you can see the cruise ship Astoria Grande.

M/S Moda is one of the classic passenger ferries of Istanbul. ferries are called "Vapur" in Turkish, the word originates from French "vapeur". Istanbul is not complete without them.
Behind Moda, you can see two modern ships by the pier. Before they were built, a poll was taken and citizens of Istanbul decided the general appearance of the new ships. The winning design was the most similar one to the classic vapur silhouette.

Istanbul passenger ferry M/S Kızıltoprak docking Kadıköy pier. Kızıltoprak was donated to Trabzon's Beşikdüzü town by the previous management of the company. Tje aim of the old management of Istanbul metropolitan municipality and the istanbul city lines company was to privatize the sea lines and slowly decommision the existing ships. They donated most of the ships to shore towns, and most of them could not survive. But after the new management took the helm, she was taken back and restored in Haliç Shipyard.
