On September 17th 2026, Bulk carrier ship m/v First Margaux slammed Chinese fishing boat LU QING YUAN YU 108 in Singapore strait. Filmed by a crew onboard the fishing vessel, it seems like contact happened while the Bulk Carrier ship was overtaking the fishing vessel. Eventhough the fishing boat listed after the bow of bulk carrier ship hit and pushed it along until it spun to the other side, the fishing boat survived the accident. No casualties reported thankfully.

Fishing season starts on first of September. Fishing vessel Mamatiler is seen from Rumelikavağı hills, a fishermens village north of Bosphorus strait, Istanbul. Although we enjoy the sighting of trawlers, industrial fishing should be banned on Bosphorus including enterances, the only migrating passage for fish. The ecosystem should be protected for sustainable fishing industry.

Having your Turkish coffee by the bosphorus and watching the boats passing by... If you live in Istanbul, this is some kind of self teraphy.

Spotted this little fishing boat passing by the shores of Marmara Sea from the cliffs of Ganos mountains on the way to Uçmakdere. out of fishing season, they rather looked like enjoying the ride watching the mountains turning green with the touch of spring. The wiev should be as amazing as it is from up above.

Stockholm is heaven for a maritime enthusiast. I tried to see as much i can but it was not enough for sure. Next time i will try to make connections earlier and take some tours and see the boats more in detail. I will try to share more about this trip but will take some time. In the mean time take a look at @orion1929. She was built as a buoy tender and support vessel in 1929 and was active until 1979. Since 1993, she is a museum ship.
Where should i go and see next time? Any suggestions?

Hora Light House

Built in 1861. The lighthouse mechanism was brought from France, the tower was built with cast iron panels and steel structure and maintains original state. Tower is 20 meters high from ground level and 50 meters high from sea level. Hora lighthouse was renamed as Hoşköy Lighthouse later on.
The beam reaches up to 19 nautical miles. The characteristic of the lighthouse is Gp.Fl.W(2).ş0.5.k2.ş0.5.k7
which means Group Flashing White 2 10 seconds. So, one white flashe for 0.5 seconds, 2 seconds dark, 0.5 seconds white flash, then dark for 7 seconds, and repeat. When sailors spots this pattern, they check with their charts and confirm which land reference they see and navigate accordingly.
First kerosene lanterns were used in the lighthouse, which later was replaced by LPG gas lamps and in the end, 1000 watt electric lamps were installed. 3 optic panels are used with focal length of lenses 375mm. They float over a mercury pool forming a triangle. The light source rests in the focal point and the panels rotate on the mercury pool. The rotation was achieved by a clockwork mechanism which was powered by gravity. Aheavy weight hanging was hand cranked up then let gravity move the mechanism until the weight reaches down. These mechanism and panels were later removed and kept for display. Now the tower is powered by electric motors and photocell sensors.
In 2022, the building complex was rented out and there are special events take place from time ti time. Unfortunately, it is not possible to visit the lighthouse except the declared dates.
