Soviet Icebreaker Harbour Tug

Another harbour tug from Soviet era. I tried to find pictures and i think i could find similar ones. (one matching exactly i guess ). The plans are quite detailed and in 4 pieces. A great blueprint set for scale model builders.

These tugs were built for Russian navy. They have Variable Pitch Propellers (or controlable) centered in a nozzle. This gives an easier control and more efficient thrust. The aft is extended below the water line to protect the screws from ice. Also there are bars extended to the hull that you can see on the plans.  The hull of the ship is also said to be strenghtened. This is a must if you are operating tugs in severe icing conditions up north. A water cannon is placed on top of the wheel house for fire fighting issues.

These tugs have two main engines each producing 600hp at 300rpm.
