NordKap 476

nordkap_476 model boat blueprints

Our new scale model boat blueprint comes from Billing Boats. NordKap “476” is a typical north sea fishing trawler from 1970’s. Couldn’t find so many details but she was built in England. She was 40m long and 9.3m wide. Her 1000 HP diesel engine could get her up to 14 knots. She was fishing cod, herrings and trash fish around Iceland and greenland with a crew of 7-8 men.

The plans are actually for Billing Boats’ model boat kit. But still, there are the frames and so on. So i believe you can build a model out of these very detailed instructions.

i downloaded the free plans and have already started building this boat. As a warning to anyone else building from scratch using these plans you have a lot of cutting to do. i have successfully handcrafted all of the ribs, the keel, stern and bow also the deck.

i done a dry fitting yesterday of all of the parts and noticed 2 problems with the plans.
i zoomed my adobe reader in by 150% and traced all parts needed for this build. the plans call for a 550mm long keel. i find this INCORRECT, infact im needing a 590mm long keel. and also rib number 8 and 1 are slightly to big for the assembled frame by aprox 1-2mm. (make of this what you will, but be advised of these problems i noticed )

other than the 2 listed above everything else seems to be perfectly fine. my next steps using these free plans is to permanently assemble the skeleton and start planking the hull. ill keep everyone updated in these comments of any future problems i run into.

I am trying to get the blueprints for the hull of the Nordcap 476. I build models “from scratch” out of brass sheets! The models I build are around 90 cm long and one tugboat has got a steam engine and the other is powered by electric motors. They are built entirely out of metal, welded or soldered together. Having a blue print especially of the hull makes it way easier to build (choosing to scale it as I see fit) Where and how do I get the blueprints?
